01

What Is a Rapid Rescore?

A rapid rescore is a mortgage-only process used to request an expedited update to credit report information after documentation is provided. It may be used when an account balance, payment, or correction has already been made but has not yet updated on the credit report.

Important note: A rapid rescore does not erase accurate negative credit history and does not guarantee a score increase.

02

What Is a Credit Supplement?

A credit supplement is a lender-requested verification used to confirm specific credit information directly with a creditor or credit bureau vendor. It may help document updated balances, payment status, account ownership, or missing information needed for underwriting.

Important note: A supplement may update information for underwriting review, but it does not always change the credit score.

03

When These Tools May Help

These tools may be useful when documented credit information has changed but the current report does not yet show the update.

Recently Paid Down Credit Cards

When a credit card balance has been reduced but the lower balance has not reported yet.

Recently Paid Off Accounts

When an installment loan, auto loan, or revolving account has been paid off and documentation is available.

Corrected Reporting Errors

When a creditor has corrected an error but the bureau has not reflected the update yet.

Updated Collection Status

When a collection has been paid, settled, deleted, or updated and proof is available.

Missing Account Information

When an account is not showing a payment amount, balance, or status needed for underwriting.

Authorized User or Disputed Accounts

When account details need to be clarified for mortgage review.

04

Pay for Delete — What It Means

A “pay for delete” is when a collection agency agrees to delete a collection account from the credit report after payment or settlement.

  • Not all collection agencies offer pay for delete.
  • The agreement should be documented before payment when possible.
  • Deletion is not guaranteed unless the agency confirms it.
  • Deleting a collection may help some credit profiles, but results vary.
  • Mortgage lenders may still need proof of payment or settlement depending on the loan program.
05

What Documentation May Be Needed

Updated creditor statement

Paid receipt

Settlement letter

Letter from collection agency

06

What Rapid Rescores Cannot Do

They cannot remove accurate late payments

They cannot create credit history that does not exist

They cannot force a creditor to delete an account

They cannot guarantee a score increase

They cannot be ordered without supporting documentation

They are only used through the mortgage credit reporting process
